Full Time
Spanish Springs Specialty Care Center, 1400 N US 441, Suite 810, Lady Lake, FL
he Villages Health, located in The Villages, Florida, has an opening for a full-time, in-house psychiatrist to join 2 other psychiatrists and 1 psychiatric nurse practitioner.
The Integrated Behavioral Health Department is part of Primary Care and has created 2 behavioral health consultation services based on the University of Washington AIMs model. The services include one program, called Tandem Care, that handles complex patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease and a behavioral health condition. In this program the Psychiatrist and the Care Manager meet with each of the primary care providers each week for 30 min to discuss each of their patients who are up for review. The psychiatrist and the primary care provider work together to make recommendations on medications and the care manager takes those thoughts back to the patient.
In the other model, collaborative care, the patient can be referred without a medical condition and only a behavioral health condition that meets criteria for collaborative care. In this model the psychiatrist meets weekly with the care manager without the primary care team. Both programs have been well received by the primary care physicians who have voiced their enjoyment of the learning and interaction that they are receiving. It also has complete administrative support to continue the current programs and develop additional programs.
Much of the work week would be in the psychiatry department. However, if desired there would also be primary care opportunities that can be explored. There could be opportunities to do Saturday walk-in clinics or same-day primary care appointments.
