The Villages Health is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is interested in joining our Urology team, who partner to be patient-centered and community-focused here in The Villages, America’s Healthiest Hometown!

Scope of Responsibilities:
An exempt position responsible for providing urology acute care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient acute care. 

The candidate should possess the following qualities and skills: good bedside manner, an empathetic and cooperative disposition, good clinical skills and fund of knowledge.

Job duties will include:

1.    Perform and coordination Urology Acute Care Clinic needs for urology patients as same day appts and nursing procedure visits in follow-up to provider treatment plans. Effectively treat and prescribe to all urology patients needing same day acute care.
2.    Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and assessing presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examination.
3.    Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other tests to diagnosis and treat today's reason for visit. Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks.
4.    Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing ordered medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention. Recommends appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs. Communicates appropriate case management information to other professionals and community agencies. Prepares documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner.
5.    Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Acts as consultant/collaborator to clinical team in the area of urology acute care specialty. Complies with patient confidentiality requirements. Promotes patient advocacy.
6.    Collaborates with physicians in managing acute medical needs of patient. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan including triaging patient calls/e-mails.
7.    Demonstrates accurate and timely documentation of acute care visit including pertinent history, physical exam, consults and daily progress notes.
8.    Administers medications and treatments as ordered. Assists other healthcare professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies. Tasks including: Triaging and discharging patients for visits, which may include blood drawn to be processed in the lab, entering future orders for labs and placing referrals. Access OnePacs, LMI, TVRH Citrix system as needed. Post-op visits care including removal of catheters, staples/sutures/drains, apply steri-strips, perform wound care and dressing changes. Perform urine testing, perform bladder scanning, bladder instillations. Interstim checks and adjustments, urine catheterization, send urine for FISH test, catheter flushing (clot evacuation), perform flow PVR's, suprapubic exchanges. Administer BCG/Gemcitabine treatments, Lupron/Eligard/testosterone injections.
9.    Documents assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records in timely manner, usually 48 hours. Including clinical pharmacology; drug administration through various routes including injections (Testosterone, Rocephin, Toradol, Gentamycin, Lupron, and any other patient specific IM/SC injections.
10.    Provide hospital consultation and rounding as needed to support the physicians.
11.    Expectation of clinic hours will be 8am-5pm M-F 30mins appts for acute care appts and nursing treatment appts only.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of physician assistant practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved physician assistant program or successful completion of advanced practitioner 
training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program. 
PA: Minimum three years of physician assistant experience in a clinic setting preferred. 
NP: Minimum three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience. 
Must possess a current CPR/BLS or ACLS certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations or proof of immunity to work in the health care field (hepatitis Band tuberculosis).
